March 1, 2012, Fort Worth, TX — Good Earth Energy Conservation, Inc. (GEEC) today announced agreements with three prominent fleet dealers in California and Washington State to sell the company’s “Firefly”, a high-performance three-wheeled electric utility vehicle designed for essential services such as local parking enforcement.
Turf and Industrial Equipment in Santa Clara, ECARCO in Long Beach, both in California, and MC Electric Vehicles, in Seattle and Portland, Washington, are taking orders for use by local police departments, universities, and fleet motor pools as an emissions-free alternative to gas-powered options and obsolete entry-level battery electric vehicles. These dealers will join GEEC’s expanding nationwide dealer network, which now encompasses more than 100 cities in the western United States.
The Firefly uses the proven Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery technology that has a longer life cycle than standard flooded lead acid batteries. It has an eight-hour charger compatible with a standard household outlet. With the Firefly’s groundbreaking technology and software, it is highly energy efficient with up to 60+ miles per charge and performance speeds up to 45 mph. The Firefly is more affordable than gas-powered competitors with overall operational cost savings of more than 85%.
“Our entry into the California and Washington markets is a milestone and these new dealers validate the growing demand for our essential services vehicle especially given the increasing focus on improving our environment,” said GEEC President, James Emmons. “The Firefly will help police departments and fleet managers exceed their performance requirements while saving almost $4,000 annually and providing a pollution-free vehicle that will benefit the community as well.”
“The Firefly was designed and developed through a collaboration with law enforcement agencies and municipalities that began in 2008 with the City of Santa Monica,” according to Peter Barsky, GEEC’s Vice President Of Sales. “We relied heavily on feedback from major cities such as New York, Seattle, and San Francisco, which was critical to ensure we created a customized vehicle that would meet their needs rather than building one and then asking them to make it work.”
The zero emission three-wheeled Firefly vehicles, built entirely in the United States, are completely configurable to meet the needs of parking enforcement and most fleet operators in a city or campus setting. The Firefly meets all federal and state regulations mandating use of alternative fuel vehicles.
